Accurate picture ... but not necessarily a bad thing...
It may have actually been a good thing for this to happen.
Recal how the quality of the original "Scholars" WEB site itself, also degenerated into slop and ambiguity.
Remember how the person managing much of the admin for "Scholars" complained about interference and sabotage and the general lack of organization.
Who wants to draw millions more to a poorly designed WEB site that presents a confused, contradictory or WEAK MESSAGE.
That's what Fetzer was allowing to happen, even before he firt brought Judy on his Internet radio show (was it GCN or RBN) to introduce us all to DEW by packaging it as "beams from outer space".
(That was a meme guaranteed to distort, pervert and utterly misrepresent the whole ExoW evidence narrative.)
Rick, you know how crappy the "Scholars" site had become by that time. So I was actually relieved that fewer people were looking at it.
The original notion of a "Scholars for 9/11 Truth", I found offensive and corrupt from its very inception.
So my antennae were already tuned in to the possilbe COINTELPRO stratgy behind Fetzer's establishment of the group.

I had deep misgivings about the whole notion that "scholars" were somehow required to explain to us that the goddamn buidlings were blown to kingdom come (which could be perceived by any junior high school kid from just watching the videos themselves).
It was morally corrupt to pretend that "scholarship" was somehow NEEDED to give legitimacy to the obvioius in-your-face evidence of engineered demolitions.
Now we are told we need "Pilots for 9/11 Truth" or "Architects and Engineers for..." blah blah blah ..
to explain"or validate to us .. what we knew from the beginning.
Veteran "truthers" should have been suspicious of Steve Jones from the outset and asked the question (as I did repeatedly) "Where the hell have these professors been for the last 4 years?"
"Scholars for.." was a deceptively manipulated meme, designed to propagate the notion that somehow, you had to have a PhD in physics to grasp or explain what happened at Ground Zero.
Pure high priestly credential-ism in all its rotten glory.
What an outrageously false idea.
That we need a bunch of johnny-come-lately academic cowards with their inflated degrees, to expalin "9/11 truth" to us.
I say that the whole "Scholars for 9/11 Truth" idea was evil from the beginning, and I'm glad it died a quick death.
Fetzer the academic clown
When I first checked out Fetzer's own site (Assassination Science, JFK and Wellstone, etc.) and saw that he made so much of having been "a Marine officer", I immediately raised the suggestion that, instead of a "Scholars for .." organization (which no one really needed to do "research"), why wasn't Fetzer pursuing the more necessary ACTIVIST objective of helping to build a "Marines for 9/11 Truth" ?
It was over a year later that an active-duty Marine corporal actually started such an effort, with apparently zero assistance from "former Marine" Fetzer.
I directed my rather strident questions about this to Fetzer himself.
He replied once to me, with a rather confused excuse that he didn't quite understand what I found so "objectionable" about his ongoing efforts to build "Scholars.."
Let's face it: "Scholars for.." was intended to be a stage on which lame academics like Fetzer or Jones could be periodically trotted out to FOX or MSNBC; in order to pound in the idea that the events of 9/11 were just too obscure and "complicated" to expalin ... without an officialy approved credential from one of these fascist universities.
Now, of course, any moron can get a PhD "online" or thru the mail.

Also at the time of its inception, it was clear that the only valid information about the "demolitions" propagated by "Scholars for..." had basically been plagiarized from the investigation, research and publications of people like Holmgren or Jeff King.
Even worse, we could see that Jones was starting by pushing the already discredited "research" disinfo of NSA sub-contractor Jim Hoffman.
More fruit of the poison tree from this newly awakened "scholar".
All of this was pointed out at the time.
About the only positive feature of the effort, was its association with Morgan Reynolds.
Reynolds was significant NOT because of his academic background or credentials, but due to his sinecure in the Bush administration Labor Dept. and his many ties to conservative and libertarian political elites.
At that time, I also expressed the hope that Reynolds' background would help us advance the evidence among prominent conservative Republicans and members of the prestigious Mont Pelerin Society in Europe.
But it would appear that he has been effectively marginalized by those circles as a "conspiracy theorist" ..
at least up to this point...
And at least, unlike the feeble Fetzer and the completely compromised Jones, Reynolds has managed to keep his message reasonably clear and unambiguous.
(Although I imagine that Holmgren would dispute that.)

... Holmgren would certainly dispute that.
And Holmgren is almost invariably right (by default, on occasion).
And yes ... you are right ... "Scholars for ..." was a completely unnecessary diversion from the path of Truth. Sts. Steven & David Ray were necessary in order to fill up the little Truth Goblin's heads with (apparently 'palatable') bullshit. As Rosalee once said: "They think they are doing their duty to find the Truth, and don't realise they are actually in a toilet, getting behaviour modification from the germs"
(And I say all this even though, at the time, Rick & I did our level best to 'save' "Scholars for ...". Whereupon Jabba the Hut delivered it over to Klueless Kevin).
You are right in just about everything ... but you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs.
And this ... here ... is the omelette.
(I just wish they would take my name off their list. Yours is there as well, Rick. They have to cling to their "membership" like a crab clings to bacon rind ... or ... in the case of ST911.org ... like shit to a blanket)
